Today Martin Luther King was born (1929). In 1963 (August 28) he addressed marchers and the entire nation, saying "I have a dream." You can read the speech at
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm. In 1964 he received the Nobel Peace Prize. And on April 4, 1968 he was assassinated in Memphis, TN at age 39. Since 1986 King's birthday has been a public holiday.
